i like storms
they open the sky,
they rip holes in the fog.
they are wild and untamed
they run free,
play with light and shadows.
they chase clouds
and huge birds ride their winds
i like storms
when the winds howl and whistle,
grumble and hiss,
snarl and sough
and sweep the fallen leaves
when branches bend and trees
and men lose their hat
and women their umbrella,
dogs bark and hide
and cats look for a home
i like storms.
they bring the light,
and moments so clear
amidst turmoil and pain
i like storms
and the scent
and the silence
after.
