And by came an Angel

"The Guardian Weekend", 12 December 29 2007
"I was 30 before I learned to read"
Antonia Moore

And now she quotes Blake:

"And by came an Angel who had a bright key/
And he open'd the coffins & set them all free."

And I quote A.Moore:

"That's what happened to me: I was set free."

Very honest and beautiful writing! You are a graceful person, Antonia Moore.

Today I did an 8 hour shift in Berwick Infirmary, went for an Indian meal,
quarrelled with my wife on the phone, got good with her again.

The news are still mainly Benazir Bhutto. I don't think it should be discussed in such detail whether she died from banging her head on the car or by a bullet. It was a violent act one way or another. I noticed that I don't know much about Pakistan.

Do you know the wonderful ways for psychiatric admissions in the UK? I spent nearly 2 hours yesterday night in a NHS vehicle in front of a nursing home trying to get the right people.
I know that this is "normal" here!

I am in two minds....

Suffering demands a presence

“Suffering is not a question that demands an answer;
it is not a problem that demands a solution;
it is a mystery that demands a presence.”
(Source unknown).

The first rule is don’t panic, do not dive in blindly,
keep your hands tucked behind your back,
your mouth shut and listen to the parents.

and:

Remember the laying on of hands is as important as anything you may discover on your examination

Hungry at night: eating man blues

To be honest I'd like something very different indeed.

But I am hungry.
I'll take the cheese sandwich then.

Better one step after the other with bad legs
than downstairs with no legs at all.
This is what the caretaker said.

The undertaker topped that one.
Eat as much as you like my dear, he said.

Well then, it makes a fat deal or a big meal
for the big black cat.
And not for nothing,
the coffin tends to get more expensive

for each inch of one's waist.

Nothing makes sense or doesn't it?
Should I eat nothing?
But nothing is alive.

It's night and
I don't want nothing
but....

Can't stop.
The show must go on.
Mind your step,
I'll take a candle
down for you.
