phone booth in Magalhães Lemos...
people as forever in straightjackets, no informed consent, actually no information on medication whatsoever, the process of hospitalization and blunted perception deep in the dull eyes of staff and patients, overdosed people resting their heads on tables, isolation and estrangement from humanity as i had once experienced it a long time ago, then in Dortmund-Aplerbeck, next to British barracks and next to a huge cemetery, all in all here again an atmosphere of neglect and a smell of prison.
can hope return to the minds and souls of even the staff, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, doctors who have to work in this underworld?
can Portguese health politics shed light into these cellars and help create a way following European standards?
lack of money is no excuse here.
everybody can complain and do nothing and find a reason to stay stuck in the mud. this is the behaviour of addicts, it shouldn't be the way of psychiatry in this century in Europe. Why do i feel exhausted?
