alone with golden eyes
and to fly dreamless
with sharps claws
across rivers and rocks
half lazy half hungry
in ever careful evasion
of hunters and traps
a beautiful mind
and no companion
to shield against
this winter's wind
a cruel beast
dancing with clouds
carrion in its beak
no more memory
of its deserted nest
it is just there
no need to look
for any meaning there
pilgrim beware
do not turn nor stumble
walk and keep ahead
evade the shadow of wings
