Eivør , Far Away

so..tell me stories before we sleep...

Stories, tell me stories before I go to sleep
tell me what you’re thinking, is it funny, is it sweet

Far away, far away from here

Teach me, like you used to, how to steer a rocking boat like you do
meet me down at the harbour let´s sail the ocean blue

Far away, far away from here
you are far, far away, but near

I still see you and your footsteps in the sand
memories shape me like clay in your hands

truth, communication, Ursula K. Le Guin, Laura (Riding) Jackson, quotes,brainpickings.org, Maria Popova

the two links below show articles: i read several times now.
some lines are of immediately obvious relevance.
i won't read all the books here, not one of these days anyway.
Maria Popova has a huge talent to outline what should be transmitted and to focus our attention.

i marked other lines i found important.such as
"How our story has been divided up among the truth-telling professions! Religion, philosophy, history, poetry, compete with one another for our ears; and science competes with all together. And for each we have a different set of ears. But, though we hear much, what we are told is as nothing: none of it gives us ourselves, rather each story-kind steals us to make its reality of us."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
yes. one time our crippled mind didn't ask enough...too tired. it accepted. this is wrong.

when no question is left, then something is very very wrong.

we divided us and allowed us to be divided and sometimes or often we have been forced
to divide ourselves, in higher or upper and lower or down below  parts, in sublimation and lust, in spiritual
and fleshly, in soul and mind, in guilty and innocent, in pure and dirty, in sweet and in cruel,
in child and  adult, in play and in creation, in love and in hate, in definitions of love and joy, of sadness, of loss.

what good will it do us?

we lost touch with each other and ourselves, nearly all of us, we live in analysis and we are an analysis,
analyzed to parts, a multitude of split- persons- parts, an assembly of non-existing egos, super-egos.and  :
judges and gurus and teachers and crucified animals, emotions, perception, memories, feelings.

we cry out in our pain, our multitude talking to each other in the Babel of culture, psychoanalysis and past
hurt. we tend to suffocate in echoes of past. it is so hard to find back to essence.
it is hard to be still. and it is harder to keep still.

we do not live fully and not enough, but we cannot narrate without flow,
then there are no more stories to be told.

it is enough to know for  oneself good and bad and to keep awake asking
and walk around with open kindness,no?
no. we'd have to do it.

Ursula K. Le Guin, The Wave in the Mind

Laura (Riding) Jackson , The Telling

Jackson
"There is something to be told about us for the telling of which we all wait. In our unwilling ignorance we hurry to listen to stories of old human life, new human life, fancied human life, avid of something to while away the time of unanswered curiosity. Many of the lesser things concerning us have been told, but the greater things have not been told; and nothing can fill their place. Whatever we learn of what is not ourselves, but ours to know, being of our universal world, will likewise leave the emptiness an emptiness. Until the missing story of ourselves is told, nothing besides told can suffice us: we shall go on quietly craving it."

Jackson
"How our story has been divided up among the truth-telling professions! Religion, philosophy, history, poetry, compete with one another for our ears; and science competes with all together. And for each we have a different set of ears. But, though we hear much, what we are told is as nothing: none of it gives us ourselves, rather each story-kind steals us to make its reality of us."

Jackson
"Our truth cannot be all-told, from the beginning told, unless we tell it to one another."

Jackson:
"Among human beings there are true differences of understanding, come of their having spoken so little with one another as beings of the one life-story. By speaking out of their different story-sense of human-being to one another, the differers can learn their life-sameness, and the different understandings be loosed to join."

Le Guin:
Words are events, they do things, change things. They transform both speaker and hearer; they feed energy back and forth and amplify it. They feed understanding or emotion back and forth and amplify it.”

Le Guin: "In most cases of people actually talking to one another, human communication cannot be reduced to information. The message not only involves, it is, a relationship between speaker and hearer. The medium in which the message is embedded is immensely complex, infinitely more than a code: it is a language, a function of a society, a culture, in which the language, the speaker, and the hearer are all embedded."

Le Guin: "Two amoebas having sex, or two people talking, form a community of two. People are also able to form communities of many, through sending and receiving bits of ourselves and others back and forth continually — through, in other words, talking and listening. Talking and listening are ultimately the same thing."

Le Guin: "Any two things that oscillate at about the same interval, if they’re physically near each other, will gradually tend to lock in and pulse at exactly the same interval. Things are lazy. It takes less energy to pulse cooperatively than to pulse in opposition. Physicists call this beautiful, economical laziness mutual phase locking, or entrainment."
"All living beings are oscillators. We vibrate. ..................................................
That constant, delicate, complex throbbing is the process of life itself made visible."
Le Guin: "Like the two pendulums, though through more complex processes, two people together can mutually phase-lock. Successful human relationship involves entrainment — getting in sync. If it doesn’t, the relationship is either uncomfortable or disastrous."

Le Guin: "Listening is not a reaction, it is a connection. Listening to a conversation or a story, we don’t so much respond as join in — become part of the action.
[…]
When you can and do entrain, you are synchronising with the people you’re talking with, physically getting in time and tune with them. No wonder speech is so strong a bond, so powerful in forming community."
Le Guin: "Speech, the most specifically human sound, and the most significant kind of sound, is never just scenery, it’s always event."

Le Guin:  "The voice creates a sphere around it, which includes all its hearers: an intimate sphere or area, limited in both space and time.
Creation is an act. Action takes energy.
Sound is dynamic. Speech is dynamic — it is action. To act is to take power, to have power, to be powerful. Mutual communication between speakers and listeners is a powerful act. The power of each speaker is amplified, augmented, by the entrainment of the listeners. The strength of a community is amplified, augmented by its mutual entrainment in speech.
[…]
This is why utterance is magic. Words do have power. Names have power. Words are events, they do things, change things. They transform both speaker and hearer; they feed energy back and forth and amplify it. They feed understanding or emotion back and forth and amplify it."
The living response has enabled that voice to speak. Teller and listener, each fulfills the other’s expectations. The living tongue that tells the word, the living ear that hears it, bind and bond us in the communion we long for in the silence of our inner solitude."

Yes , Sweetness

She brings the sunshine to a rainy afternoon
She puts the sweetness in and stirs it with a spoon,
She watches for my moods and never brings me down
She puts the sweetness in all around

She knows just what to say to make me feel so good inside
and when I'm all alone I feel I don't want to hide

Today she bought me in and told me where she'd been
She put my mind at rest and put the sweetness in
I'll ask her for some time to go and look around
She puts the sweetness in all around

She knows just what to say to make a sunny day

And when I'm all alone I really don't feel that way.
Tell me how would you feel with no world of your own
and nobody to hold, I just can't see the way
I'm so glad it's today and you're here.
