so, and now i got to watch my comfortably stupid series ...
digestion: nursing homes and cruises
too much leisure
like on a cruise or
in nursing homes
can cause constipation.
intimate talks among
the ageing, even at table,
turning from food to
digestion and denture.
they know by then
that indulgence in
pleasure sparks pain,
a rumbling inside
searching release.
and they know how
to tease each other
in the process of decay.
the process of maturity
leaves manure in its wake.
the lady with beautiful eyes
will gracefully use nappies
and the demented sage
will eat them solemnly.
here where no children
are born we should
write poems on loss,
on nursing, on digestion
and see how we will
carry proudly the thorn
in our flesh as long
as we can breathe
and care and listen
and walk with a stick
or at least as long
as we can stay in
flow, conscious of
our melting integrity
